Location: Chicago Area Health System.
Job Type: Temporary (Short-Term due to Labor Disputes).
Shifts Available: Overnight (11 PM - 7:30 AM), Day (7 AM - 3:30 PM), Evening (3pm - 11:30pm).
Pay Rate: $30/hr.
Overview:
We are currently seeking multiple Environmental Services Technicians (EVS) to join our health system in the Chicago area on a temporary basis. This urgent need has arisen due to recent labor disputes, requiring immediate coverage for both day and overnight shifts. Our EVS Technicians play a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients, staff, and visitors alike.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas, and public restrooms.
- Use cleaning devices such as mops, wringers, dusters, household-type vacuum cleaners, and other necessary tools, products, and supplies.
- Mix and properly use various cleaning and disinfecting solutions to ensure the disinfection of washable surfaces.
- Dispose of trash, recyclables, and medical waste according to procedures.
- Ensure adherence to safety and infection control policies when performing cleaning duties.
- Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
- Respond to urgent cleaning calls as needed.
- Interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Effective communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, as required by staffing needs.
- Must be current with required immunizations: COVID-19, Flu, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella (Chicken Pox), and TB (Tuberculosis).
- Candidates who are missing any immunizations but are willing to obtain them may still be considered.
