STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Position Type: Direct Hire

Position Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (Summer hours on Fridays through Labor Day will be 8:00a-2:30pm)

Position Salary: $47,840-$52,000

Position Location: Brook Park, Ohio

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Willing to learn the production process and costs accounting functions.
  • Prints Production Order Lists for Supervisors.
  • Outputs daily pounds for WIP based on the production order list from department Supervisors.
  • Outputs trim off Production Order List.
  • Transfers flour and oil usage off the Production Order List.
  • Reviews daily production batch sheets against output sheets for accuracy.
  • Distributes weekly cycle count sheets to Supervisors.
  • Transfers materials to next week based on cycle count sheets.
  • Outputs timesheet hours in NAV from employee timesheets.
  • Calculates processing labor based on routings to allocate to production order.
  • Refreshes daily capacity pivot to make sure hours entered in NAV reconcile to the Payroll Accountant’s daily labor report.
  • Ensures weekly hours tie to weekly NAV hours prior to consumption.
  • Import Excel TFA’s into NAV to process customer deductions.
  • Posts information via journal entries.
  • Monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconciles sub-ledger to general ledger account balances.
  • Classifies accounting documents to appropriate accounts to ensure accurate financial recordkeeping.
  • Reconciles sub-accounts to determine the nature and extent of discrepancies; corrects and notifies supervisor.
  • Develops and prepares detailed accounting statistical reports, statements, and schedules.
  • Prepares analytical summaries and reports for management to review.
  • Assists company management with audits; may coordinate related documentation for external auditors and act as contact during the audit process.
  • Maintains detailed records and prepares communications as needed.
  • Interacts professionally on a regular basis with staff, vendors and the general public.
  • Assures additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.

REQUIREED QUALIFICATIONS listed below are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be successful in this position.

Education, Training and/or Experience

  • Associate degree in finance or accounting.
  • Minimum three years of related accounting work experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, accounting software systems and use of intranet and internet.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of all related tax legislation and regulations.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to understand and communicate data within financial reports.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills.
  • Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret reports and business correspondence for a diverse audience.
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive and solution focused.
  • Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with public and staff in a personable and professional manner.
  • Maintains a high level of energy and a consistent positive attitude.
