The Controller is responsible for managing the accounting for all financial assets and liabilities and continuously improving standards of accounting and record keeping according to GAAP guidelines. This position manages the daily Accounting operations and assists the President & Executive Director in providing financial recommendations to further the institution and report accurate financial information to the Board of Directors and associated committees. Daily oversight of all accounting functions includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. The Controller partners with leadership to develop and implement a multi-year financial plan, incorporating data analysis and industry trends to optimize revenue streams from admissions, memberships, events, and other sources. The Controller also collaborates in establishing and monitoring a multi-year endowment growth plan to ensure long-term financial sustainability. Additional responsibilities include
· Implementation of a financial transparency plan that includes clear and accessible reporting for stakeholders, fostering trust and accountability.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
· CPA license preferred.
· 5 years minimum experience in a finance or accounting capacity.
· Experience in non-profit accounting a plus.
· Accrual based accounting experience preferred.
· Prior supervisory and leadership experience required.
· Knowledge of GAAP and practices of nonprofit organizations.
· Should possess strong computer skills particularly in Excel, payroll processing software, and accounting packages
