STAND 8 provides end to end IT solutions to enterprise partners across the United States and with offices in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, and more including internationally in Mexico and India.

We are seeking a Data & Analytics Product Manager for our client team, and this person will have a solid understanding of product management within the Media & Entertainment arena with Film or Television data. You have a proven track record of successfully translating Data & Analytics business requirements into features that can be developed with engineering teams, and you're passionate about delivering data solutions to the business across the full product lifecycle.

You understand cloud data environments as this is your daily bread and butter, know the difference between relational and non-relational databases, and how database tables work. You will understand how data environments get built and how to drive the right KPIs. You understand the difference between visualizing data and engineering data, and how to work through the dev lifecycle for each. You will be an expert in understanding business needs and translate that into technical user stories our developers can understand. You may be working on products to ensure data can be onboarded from a vendor, blending data sources, creating new views or anything the business needs to perform.

You will also be adept at scheduling our engineering teams within an Agile framework and be able to translate Jira tickets into user stories. You will thrive on the challenge of meeting business requirements to enhance the business and feel pride when products are successful.

Our ideal consultant will have experience in the media entertainment industry (Film or TV) and with internal business-facing Data & Analytics products. The Product Manager must have excellent communication skills and be able to bring different teams together, navigate different priorities, drive business needs, and translate needs into finished successful products that deliver value. This role will require the individual to work onsite in the Los Angeles area (Studio City adjacent) at least once a month, and remotely the remainder. If you're looking to grow within a global entertainment company and let your Data & Analytics experience shine, we look forward to hearing from you!

Responsibilities

  • Understand business Data & Analytics product needs and translate them for the engineering teams.
  • Understand back-end cloud data environments, data tables, and how data is structured and tabled.
  • Decide which features will be used to solve challenges, document them and bring to engineering partners.
  • Work closely with engineering and business teams to deliver on the product roadmap.
  • Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for our internal business-facing products.
  • Be able to define KPIs and ensure products meet needs and perform to requirements.
  • Oversee all stages of the product life cycle, from conception to launch, and post-launch performance.
  • Understand customer needs and gather product requirements. Develop new insights into solutions that result in organizational improvements or product innovations.
  • Keep abreast of the competitive landscape and emerging industry trends. Use this information to drive strategic decisions about the product portfolio.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
  • Define, track, and improve key product metrics to understand the effectiveness of product initiatives.
  • Identify potential risks and create strategies to mitigate them in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain a product roadmap, aligning it with company objectives and key results (OKRs). Regularly communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Participate in sprint planning, PI planning, roadmapping, scoping of requirements, and infrastructure diagramming.
  • Facilitate story pointing sessions with the engineering team to estimate the effort required for each user story. This will help in sprint planning and backlog refinement.
  • Act as a driving force for the engineering teams, helping to guide them through the development process, remove blockers, and ensure that the product vision is clearly understood and implemented effectively.

Qualifications

  • Background with or understanding and/or hands-on experience with back-end cloud data (GCP, Big Query, Snowflake, etc.) sources and technologies (we don't need a developer)
