Position Title: Payroll Clerk

Pay: $25.24-$31.15 an hour

In this role, you will support our Payroll team for our Union employees. Attention to detail and providing great customer service to our team is key.

This position will be primarily responsible for:

• Ensuring employees are paid accurately with the correct taxes and deductions applied.

• Answering employees’ questions and resolving any pay related issues.
• Calculating any needed adjustments and issuing manual checks as needed.
• Ensuring garnishment are handled correctly and any monies withheld for deductions such as 401K or Union Dues are paid promptly with proper documentation.
• Providing weekly and ad hoc reports to HR, Accounting, and Key Management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong basic math skills.
• Strong computer skills including efficient data entry and EXCEL.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
• Availability to work up to 12 hours a day seven days a week during our pack season.
• Flexibility to work different shifts as needed during pack season.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and within the team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of CA and Federal Labor Rules and Tax Laws.
• 1-2 years experience with an integrated payroll/time system, UKG a plus.
• Experience creating custom reports with a report writing tool.
• Familiar with Microsoft ACCESS.

Physical Requirements:

Rare lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; rare stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 75% or more sitting, 25% or less walking, and 25% or more standing. The job is performed under occasional temperature variations and in an office environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift up to 35 lbs. is required.
