Organization Overview: Goddard Riverside invests in people & strengthens community, serving more than 20,000 people throughout New York City with a variety of programs for all ages. We work within a social justice framework to create a fair and just society where all people have the opportunity to make choices that lead to better lives for themselves and their families. Goddard is a partner within the Manhattan Outreach Consortium (MOC) a borough-wide initiative to serve the unsheltered community. MOC collaborates with various community partners and healthcare agencies throughout Manhattan.

Schedule: Seasonal program runs Monday through Sunday. Up to 15 hours per week. Runs for 8 weeks. 

Hourly Rate: $19.00

Qualifications

Under the supervision of the Summer Teen Program Manager, the Activity Liaisons will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties: 

• Lead a group of up to 10-15 youth in daily activities such as social-emotional learning, enrichment, academic support, and off-site enrichment field trips; 

• Work closely with Activity Specialists to gather the necessary resources for activities, such as equipment and materials 

• Collaborate with the summer team to plan & facilitate various enrichment activities 

• Serve as a role model to youth, always maintaining professionalism and preparedness. 

• Monitor daily meal and snack distribution 

• Monitor activity and behavior of participants, communicating both positive and challenging experiences with Program Coordinators and the Program Manager during daily huddles 

• Utilize positive youth development strategies to resolve behavioral challenges and celebrate youth achievement. 

• Participate pre-program and ongoing professional development opportunities and daily staff meetings in addition to formal feedback and coaching:

• Chaperone off-site field trips to pre-arranged destinations in New York City 

• Support with outreach to families and local community members as necessary. 

• Implement all health and safety protocols as required. 

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or HSE is preferred 

• Willingness to learn & continue learning and developing through this role 

• Demonstrated sensitivity & respect of teenagers and young adults, and your community 

• Strong communication skills

• Comfortable using technology ie. Smartphones, email accounts, Microsoft Office and/or Google Docs

• Able to work at least one weekend day on a rotating schedule.
