Your Opportunity As a Project Controls Professional at Stantec, you will utilize your expertise planning, scheduling, cost control, communications, and problem solving in a fast-paced, professional, engineering design environment with frequent interfacing with other internal and external professionals.
Reporting Relationships Reporting to the Practice Leader, the Project Controls Professional will work closely with project managers, business developers, discipline leads, and clients to support execution of our projects.
Your Key Responsibilities SCHEDULING - Lead the development, monitoring, updating, forecasting, and analyzing of project schedules with particular focus on engineering activities. Schedules are in accordance with industry standard methodologies for various levels depending on project stage and project requirements.
- Lead the integration of our engineering schedule with external parties' procurement and construction schedule and at times also manage external parties' procurement and construction schedule.
PROJECT COST ESTIMATING - Support the development of total installed project cost estimates in accordance with AACE classifications for all disciplines including both direct and indirect costs.
- Develop systems for utilizing project cost data on future projects including establishing a historical cost database of project costs
PROJECT CONTROLS SUPPORT - Utilize project controls systems to track and forecast capital costs on major projects, including change management covering cost and schedule and preparation of project reports.
- Perform various project control activities including resource planning, earned value tracking, cost trends, financial forecasting, etc.
- Provide project cost and schedule risk assessments.
- Supervise any supporting roles in the project schedule and cost control activities.
- Liaise with project teams to ensure the correct utilization of the project control system based on project specific requirements and corporate guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience - Minimum of 7 years of experience in project scheduling or related field.
- Advanced user of Primavera P6 and familiar with MS Project.
- Extensive experience in developing and maintaining schedules ranging from basic Level 1 milestone schedule to detailed resource loaded Level 4 detailed schedules.
- Comfortable with supporting multiple projects at one time.
- Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Advanced understanding of project controls concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction, Business Management, or related field.
Work Environment and Physical Demands It is desired for this person to commute as needed to the office located in Plymouth MN, however potential for partial or full remote work is possible for the right candidate.
Indoor (Office Environment) Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. Noise level varies but generally at levels of conversation. Majority of time spent using a computer/laptop at a workstation and related office equipment. Time spent carrying, reaching, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling up to 9 kilograms / 20 pounds Occasional - 1-33% of shift. Subject to extended periods of sitting; may be required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk short to moderate distances to perform work. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment if needed.
