Your OpportunityAn opportunity exists in Stantec’s Water Sector for a highly motivated and experienced Civil or Environmental Engineering Project Manager with water and wastewater conveyance and treatment planning and design, as well as construction experience. Our US South Water business is rapidly growing, and we are seeking a Senior Project Manager to support our Southeast Florida operations. Stantec’s Water Team pursues and executes master planning, water supply, water treatment, wastewater treatment, conveyance and stormwater projects of varying size and complexity. The position involves the execution and delivery of technically complex projects through the full project lifecycle. The successful candidate will be someone with strong leadership and communication skills, market knowledge, business acumen, and a successful history of client relations and account management.
Your Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will use their management and technical abilities to plan and develop the scope with clients for water and wastewater project. Completing the process mechanical detailed design of water and wastewater projects and manage a team of design professionals and technicians to deliver projects involving the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, wastewater collection systems, and water supply and transmission systems.
  • Development of long-lasting partnerships with our clients.
  • Leading and implementing business development strategies for key clients and strategic pursuits.
  • Working collaboratively across business lines to understand our client’s needs and facilitate full-service offerings.
  • Leadership and involvement in related industry organizations and professional societies.
  • Project delivery oversight of complex water and wastewater projects.
  • Talent recruitment, development, and mentoring.
  • Ability to travel as needed to fill role responsibilities.
  • Manage a team of design professionals and technicians and/or construction quality assurance staff providing construction quality assurance observation and reporting services.
  • Management and master planning of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Interact with clients and internal leadership regarding status of project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Apply and share experience/knowledge of treatment, wastewater collection, and water system conveyance and facility planning and design.
  • Lead and manage preparation of engineering reports and construction documents including preliminary engineering reports, basis of design, design drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Research and understand issues related to wastewater and water resources that impact individual projects.
  • Ensure that project’s requirements are met in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide project oversight, coordination, and problem solving while coordinating with staff to provide Engineering Services During Construction for multiple projects under construction concurrently.
  • Be an active member in a local civil, environmental, or water related public works professional organization to promote and represent the firm.

  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Efficient project execution of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Can develop and review construction cost estimates.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project or Primavera project and able to develop design and construction schedules.
  • Understands client relationship management and expectations, project budgeting, proposal writing, invoicing.
  • Technical expert in all relevant areas of planning, design and understanding of various construction methods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, Adobe/Bluebeam and AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in relevant 2D required, both 3D platform preferred (Autodesk and Bentley) design software, which may include AutoCAD Civil3D, InfoWORKS, PondKing, StormCAD, WaterCAD, Biowin, GPS-X, Visual MINTEQ and HADES, in accordance with expertise.
  • Bilingual engineer fluent in Spanish including previous experience working in a bilingual environment.
Education And ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution. Master's of Science in Civil/Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution preferred. Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 25 years of experience or the combination of education and experience. Planning, Design, construction, and management experience in Florida and Puerto Rico preferred. Licensed professional engineer and ability to obtain reciprocity in required states.
Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
