Video is a key component to helping Stantec position our brand effectively. Working in close partnership with Marketing, Communications & Public Relations (MCPR) colleagues, the Communications Specialist – Video (CS-V) uses their keen visual sense and filming expertise to collaboratively plan, beautifully film, and creatively edit strategic and engaging video stories for both internal and external audiences.
On location filming throughout North America, and possibly beyond, will be required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with internal teams to understand project requirements and objectives and translate them into impactful visual narratives.
  • Planning, filming, editing, posting, and archiving high quality video content in support of Stantec’s brand (filming will often include conducting interviews)
  • Production of video content for YouTube, Stantec.com, LinkedIn, Instagram
  • Work with a variety of videos sources, ranging from on-location professional footage (filmed by you) to online filming (OpenReel) to self filmed smartphone footage to create professional results
  • Understand the business strategy and key MCPR objectives that drive all video projects
  • Create high-performing video to grow audiences while increasing positive brand sentiment and awareness, and following visual identity guidelines.
  • Keep abreast of trends and advancements in video production.
QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proven experience in videography and video editing, with a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in storytelling, cinematography, and post-production.
  • Excellent creative vision and attention to detail, with the ability to transform ideas into visually compelling content.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects, Audition, and Photoshop
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to adapt to, M43 camera format
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills
  • Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create content that positively impacts brand and business objectives
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with creative professionals in a team environment, as well as to work autonomously
  • Livestreaming experience an asset, but not required
  • Drone pilots license an asset, but not required
Education/Experience:
  • Post-secondary degree in film, media production, or related field
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in a videography role

Your Key Responsibilities
  • You Manage a team of design professionals and technicians
  • You mentor and supervise staff and develop high-performing project teams
  • You perform business development/application tasks and collaborates with staff to increase project wins and develop long lasting client relationships. Routine tasks include:
  • Participate in business line teams to manage and develop proposals
  • Client facing for business development contact, meetings, walk-downs, and presentations
  • Scope of work documents and estimates
  • Collaboration with multiple business lines to develop opportunities
  • Quality reviews
  • You assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • You perform complex engineering design tasks on assigned wastewater-related projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines. Routine technical tasks include:
  • Design basis documents
  • Engineering calculations including water, heat, and material balances
  • Equipment sizing and selection
  • Engineering drawings such as block flow diagrams (BFDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs)
  • Engineering reports
  • Feasibility studies
  • Presentations to clients, regulatory agencies and/or project stakeholders
  • Quality reviews
  • You assist with the management of the design and construction of projects.
  • You develop project management plans for projects; establishes goals and objectives for unique and complex projects.
  • You are responsible for successfully establishing projects to achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations.
  • You conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitates independent technical review projects by others.
  • You are involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, reviewing agency personnel.
  • You are accountable for making decisions on large projects. You coordinate with the regulatory review to seek final approval.
  • You manage projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams
  • You research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects
  • You assist business leaders in project revenue forecasting.
  • You oversee proposals including development of the scope and level of effort of comparable size.
  • You undertake decisions and recommendations governed by general policy and project management governance.
  • You supervise local staff and responsible for providing mentoring and coaching for future leaders, including development of succession plans for key positions.
Your Capabilities And Credentials
  • You inspire project teams to higher levels of achievement.
  • You consistently engage employees in discussions on job satisfaction and engagement and provide ongoing recognition and feedback to employees and teams.
  • Ability to perform mass & energy balance and process equipment sizing calculations and coordinate with other engineering disciplines including stress/structural, instrumentation & controls, and electrical.
  • Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
Education And Experience
  • Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years related experience in project management, preferably for wastewater projects.
  • Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain license within 6 months.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.
  • Travel to other offices as well as to project sites may be required.

  • NYC $151,200/Outside NYC $120,000 - NYC $226,800/Outside NYC $180,000 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
