Your Opportunity

As an Engineering Intern, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to infrastructure projects which may include wastewater plants, pump stations, conveyance, and hydraulic models. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken civil engineering design or construction management-type courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support several exciting local projects. This internship position is in our New York, NY office.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Assisting Engineers and Designers in the preparation of drawings and specifications as well as other documents for bid and construction with exposure to Sewer Utilities, Stormwater Infrastructure Utilities, and Public Green Stormwater Infrastructure Utilities.
• Preparing and editing drawings on AutoCAD software.
• Assisting technical staff with various project tasks, including researching, compiling and evaluating project data, preparing reports and performing calculations for design projects.
• Performing simple calculations, computer data entry, along with some exposure to GIS, design and cross-training.
• Completing other engineering/administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Requires understanding of basic AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations, policies, and programs is a plus.

Education and Experience

In progress toward earning a bachelor’s degree (minimum) in civil engineering.

Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following:

• Planning
• Design
• Construction
• Infrastructure
• Construction management

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

• $21.91 Per Hour - $32.21 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
