STAR Autism Support is Hiring a Senior Staff Accountant Near Beaverton, OR

Job DescriptionSenior Staff Accountant
Status: Exempt
Type: Full Time
Location: Hybrid, Beaverton, OR
Reports To: Head of Finance
Pay Range: $90,000 - $100,000
Position Overview
The staff accountant will assist with a broad range of accounting and operational functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, financial analysis, and tax management.
The Position: What you’ll do 
General Ledger (GL) Management:
  • Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate and timely entries
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations and closing activities
  • Assist with accounting policy documentation and creation
Accounts Payable (AP):
  • Process and verify vendor invoices for accuracy and appropriate coding
  • Manage payment processes including checks, ACH, and wire transfers
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
Accounts Receivable (AR):
  • Generate and distribute customer invoices
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and pursue collections
  • Reconcile AR accounts and apply payments accurately
Financial Analysis:
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes with relevant data and insights
Tax Management:
  • Prepare and file local, state, and federal tax returns
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and timely payment of tax liabilities
  • Assist with tax audits and provide necessary documentation
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company
Miscellaneous Duties:
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies
  • Assist with inventory management and account reconciliations
  • Participate in special projects and provide ad hoc financial analysis as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance financial processes and procedures
Skills and Talents: What you will bring to the role 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum three years accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a SaaS or start up environment
  • Experience building out and improving accounting processes
  • Intermediate experience in QuickBooks, Sales Force, and Microsoft Office
Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of general financial and accounting principles
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Ability to correctly prepare tax reports
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple ongoing projects at any given time
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Highly professional by using good judgment and maintaining a high level of confidentiality
  • Strong business acumen and industry knowledge
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • A growth mindset: willingness to receive and offer feedback
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office and general computer technology skills required
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization, customers, vendors, and employees 
Capability Requirements
  • Ability to look at a computer screen for up to 8 hours daily required
  • Work performed in an office setting with controlled temperature, sound, and lighting
  • Ability to work both individually and collaboratively with others in virtual and in-person settings
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or qualifies for an accommodation
