Description
StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals.
The ideal candidate will:

• have a passion for making a difference in the lives of others,
• have a history of providing quality client centered psychiatric care, and
• be comfortable and confident performing comprehensive mental status examinations, routine follow ups, and consultations.

Schedule: This is a full-time/exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications
Qualifications:

• Certified by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
• Two (2) years of clinical experience and knowledge in providing clinical services.

Skills & Abilities:

• Skill and ability in using electronic medical records
• Skill and ability in operating personal computer with Microsoft Office products
• Ability to perform medical examinations using standard medical procedures
• Knowledge and experience prescribing medications for psychiatric and related conditions
• Knowledge of current developments in the field especially as it relates to the practice in a public mental health model with a team approach and an emphasis on the philosophy of recovery
• Ability to perform psychiatric diagnosis, treatment interpretations and recommendations
• Ability to analyze clinical problems and take effective course of action; establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative, medical and non-medical staff, patients and the general public;
• Ability to prepare records and reports.
• Proven skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Additional Requirements:

• Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
• Must have a Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's insurance.
