Stark County Ambulance Service is Hiring an Operations Director Near Kewanee, IL

We are seeking an experienced Paramedic or Critical Care Paramedic (preferred) to join our team functioning in the role of Operations Director. The Operations Director oversees the operations of the field team for all regions. Qualified and accepted applicant will be working with the rest of the leadership team to help guide daily operations. The Operations director provides direct oversite to the shift supervisors and managers. The ideal candidate for this position has a talent for attention to detail, a passion for process improvement, and the desire to teach and mentor others.

Salary: Starting pay is $80,000 - $110,0000/yr and based on experience.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, weekends as needed. Hours are flexible and a minimum of 40 hours per week expected. Short notice shift coverage is expected when there are multiple call-offs.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily administrative working with the field team members.
  • As needed for Ambulance coverage
  • Staged at stations.
  • All stations have sleeping quarters, showers, full living room, and kitchen facilities.
  • All ambulances are equipped with Stryker Power Cots and PowerLoad system.

Responsibilities:

  • Be present in front of assigned team members to directly address needs, evaluate morale, and provide constant performance feedback. Each full-time Team Member in your assigned region will have face-to-face contact no less than once per month.
  • Oversee the Shift Supervisors and Eastern/Western Regions Operations Manager providing guidance and ensuring they are completing their essential Duties/Responsibilities.
  • Assess condition of stations in their designated region (cleanliness, general order, maintenance needs) and report any deficiencies to the appropriate person.
  • Assess condition of vehicles currently assigned to their region (cleanliness, obvious maintenance needs) and report any deficiencies to the fleet manager.
  • Working with the Logistics Specialist, evaluate durable and expendable equipment/supplies needs and report deficiencies.
  • Working with scheduling, oversee the schedule assignments of assigned field team members.
  • Assign new team members for their orientation schedule
  • Cover all open shifts in their respective region when no other options are available.
  • Perform all applicable essential duties/responsibilities of the Paramedic or Shift Supervisor job description when functioning in those roles.
  • Function as administrator-on-call on assigned/scheduled addressing shift and schedule issues/needs for all regions.
  • Coach team members as needed within the guidelines of just culture
  • Adhere to and enforce the guidance provided in the company handbook and all other policies, procedures, and guidelines set forth by the company.
  • Attend meetings as directed and report back any necessary information to the team members.
  • Participate in the interview process for potential team members that will be assigned to their team.
  • Participate in recruitment and retention including attending job fairs, high school classes, college EMS programs, etc.
  • Attend community functions including but not limited to local governmental meetings and Chamber of Commerce meeting
  • Attend continuing education monthly (Continuing education attendance is mandatory).

Competency Requirements

  • Education: Associates degree required and bachelor’s preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 consecutive years of field experience as an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic.
  • A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience (does not have to be in EMS)
  • Must obtain or maintain an Illinois State Paramedic License
  • Critical Care Certification preferred, but not required for hire (Must obtain within 1 year of hire)
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications.
  • PHTLS or ITLS certification
  • Must obtain entry into the Carle Health Peoria EMS system.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels within and outside of the medical community.
  • Must be able to do math calculations and input data into the computer.
  • Must be skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, data entry, data extrapolation and interpretation.

Physical Requirements

  • Work without any documented physical restrictions.
  • Ability to perform heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, pushing, and raising objects which will involve lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds on a regular and recurring basis and between 100-200 pounds on an infrequent and emergent basis.
