WHAT IS THE IDEAL CANDIDATE?

The ideal candidate will be passionate about sales, passionate about generating new leads, and possess excellent communication skills. You will drive business growth by promoting and selling our high-quality funeral products to customers in your designated territory. Servicing our existing customers and generating new leads by visiting potential customers will be crucial. The Starmark Local Service Center Director will direct and coordinate activities in fulfilling immediate and weekly funeral professional product needs from a Local Service Center. This includes taking and processing orders, preparing and sending correspondence and marketing materials, ordering and managing inventory (including the loading/unloading and delivery of product), ensuring website accuracy, and ensuring customer needs are fulfilled on a daily and weekly basis. The Director will adhere to excellent service standards to maintain high customer satisfaction. You will receive direct support from the Vandor Funeral Products Support Team in Richmond, IN.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Leads and directs the Service Center location while guaranteeing exceptional customer service standards.

· Actively grows the customer base in all target delivery zones through cold calling, site visits and other means.

· Works as a commercial driver when necessary. 

· Accurately collects, records and communicates valid and complete data at all times, including but not limited to: relaying information to headquarters, inputting information into established computer programs and maintaining customer files using a CRM system in coordination with Customer Service.

· Manages and maintains a warehouse up to 10,000 square feet.

· Hires and trains personnel and otherwise grows the business at their own profit and loss, so long as quality and service standards for the customer are not impacted.

· Builds sustainable relationships and trust through open & interactive communication with other Team Members, Vandor Funeral Products organization, competitors and funeral professionals and their staff.

· Ensures a message of good quality and ethics to Funeral Directors, Crematory Operators, competitors, and the public.

· Identifies and assesses customers' needs to achieve satisfaction.

· Holds responsibility for all facets of customer satisfaction from start to finish, including responding to requests for information, identifying customer needs, implementing best possible solutions, processing orders, and coordinating with drivers to ensure on-time delivery.

· Resolves any customer complaints or issues promptly by acting as a liaison between internal departments and the customer, coordinating customer refunds and/or exchange of goods if necessary. 

· Prepares BOLs and appropriate shipping documents as well as transmission of advanced shipping notices (ASN), etc. when required.

· Maintains customer files and information in ERP and CRM programs in coordination with the headquarter Customer Service offices.

· Places vendor orders, receives goods, and maintains min-max product inventories to always meet Customer needs.

· Prepares next day’s orders while drivers are making deliveries.

· Establishes a minimum daily product quantity for deliveries to ensure daily profit. 

· Assists drivers in determining best loading and routing sequencing.

· Assists with preparation of annual location budgets and periodic forecasts. 

· Attends/exhibits at state funeral association conventions. (Usually 1-2 conventions per year depending on location.)

· Establishes, manages, and secures clean and orderly warehouse space including obtaining building lease terms, ensuring all systems (HVAC, sprinkler systems, etc.) are in good working order, and identifying new lease space at end of any lease term, as needed and in coordination with Starmark Local Executive Team. 

· Maintains company equipment and licenses including company phone numbers and coordinates security, forwarding, and backups with the Vandor IT Department. 

· Identifies fleet requirements, leasing of vehicles and arranges any routine or otherwise necessary maintenance according to need.

· Exhibits regular and predictable attendance.

· Completes the Starmark Local Service Center Director Training program.

· Other duties as assigned that may be required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· A high school diploma or GED equivalence is required. Additional formal education and previous funeral industry, office, management, sales, logistics, transportation, marketing and manufacturing experience are preferred. Previous forklift experience and/or box truck operation is also a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
· Has ability to read, comprehend, speak, and write in the English language. Ability to communicate in the Spanish language is a plus.

REASONING ABILITY:
· Possesses strong reasoning skills, including the ability to analyze problems and identify, implement, and rationalize solutions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
· Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
· Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle with capability of obtaining a CDL (and accompanying legal operating requirements) if not already within possession.
· Must be able to safely operate a lift gate, forklift, and a pallet jack to successfully manage inventory and load trucks (upon completion of forklift training and certification program).

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. These include but are not limited to:
· The cab of commercial vehicle and various loading docks throughout the territory.
· Funeral homes and crematories.
· A warehouse environment that may or may not be climate controlled.
· Ability to travel a 150-mile radius of the base of operations when performing delivery routes in the absence of a driver.
· Ability to travel initially for training.
