Position SummaryThe Manufacturing Support Engineer holds a critical role in day-to-day operations, focusing on interpreting, analyzing and transforming raw data into valuable statistics and information using diverse approaches and business intelligence tools. This encompasses the manipulation of raw manufacturing data to generate meaningful reports, aiding the production team in making informed decisions related to throughput, quality, downtime, and more. This position directly assists the planning manager in the assigned manufacturing areas, providing essential insights and facilitating streamlined operations. In collaboration with the production manager within the operations team, the efforts of this individual play a vital role in enhancing the efficiency and decision-making capabilities of the production process. This position reports to the Production Manager of the assigned area.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Organize diverse sets of data to identify trends, formulate hypotheses, and contribute to the design of prediction models
  • Collaborate on the creation and distribution of daily, weekly and monthly department reports, covering safety, quality, production, and other key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Maintain an inter-departmental schedule for meetings, training, time-offs, and team-building activities as assigned
  • Serve as a communication bridge between the shopfloor and support functions, fostering continual improvement in communication channels and data quality. This includes overseeing supplies management like ordering, managing, and maintaining consumable and non-consumable items for the assigned department.
  • Support on safety protocols, including training, JSRAs, OSHA regulations, risk assessment, project safety, and related practices, ensuring a secure work environment
  • Facilitate tasks such as writing, scheduling, and inspecting employee training, cost improvement proposals and promotional pitches for departmental work culture enhancement
  • Execute real-time data synthesis using various analytical tools and handle the ordering of department consumable materials while managing accounting processes in collaboration with the finance department
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the quality management system and relevant regulations
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned
QualificationsBasic:
  • Minimum Age: 18 years old
  • Associate Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required
  • 3 years of proven expertise in data analytics
  • Track record of achieving results on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving proficiency
  • Robust understanding of systems and procedures related to production control, supply chain, or material handling, purchasing, budgeting, and procurement systems. Additionally, expertise in safety protocols including OSHA regulations, risk assessment, and related practices
  • Previous experience in the high-volume manufacturing industry
  • Exceptional organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, adept at engaging with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Proficient in establishing impactful cross-functional relationships internally and externally
  • Comprehensive proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field
  • Proven proficiency in continuous improvement systems and hands-on experience in lean manufacturing methodologies
  • Certifications/proven skills in Excel, VBA, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or other data tools
  • Program Management Experience
  • Lean Six Sigma – Greenbelt Certificate
Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work around the potential exposure to dust and chemicals
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE as deemed essential for the job function
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
