Duties and Responsibilities
Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates clinical admission, referral and/or discharge processes.Reports to: Director of Psychiatric / Manager of Psychiatric
  • Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates clinical admission, referral and/or discharge processes
  • Conducts on-site patient assessments as needed
  • Responds to intake/inquiry calls and completes the intake/inquiry form
  • Addresses issues in a timely manner including crisis and higher level of care referrals
  • Reviews all intake/inquiry calls with the psychiatrist to obtain a disposition
  • Coordinates and participates as a direct liaison with appropriate caregivers and physicians through the patient referral inquiry, admission, treatment, and discharge process
  • Reviews newly admitted patient accounts for insurance eligibility
  • Obtains initial insurance authorizations for inpatient care
  • Facilitates concurrent insurance reviews with managed care providers within the time frame the managed care companies require
  • Actively participates in department processes as requested by leadership team
  • Strong team player promoting a collaborative and successful work environment
Minimum Education
  • Associate's Degree Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Required Licenses
  • Tennessee, United States Registered Nurse
  • Current License in State of TN as a Registered Nurse Required
Minimum Work ExperienceRequired Skills/Certifications
RequiredThe below certifications will be required within 6 months of hire or when transferring into a new department with these certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
