Position Title:Bar/Catering Manager

Department: Impact Catering

Reports To:Senior Manager of Catering & Sales

Supervises:Bartenders & Catering Staff

Classification: Full-Time, Salary

Pay Range: $45,000-$50,000/annually (dependent upon experience)

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the bar and catering team in offering exceptional customer service and creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.
  • Oversee day-to-day bar operations and manage the bar program to achieve the best possible financial results.
  • Develop catering solutions to meet customer needs and execute catering events of varied size and scope to include staffing and management.
  • Develop and maintain effective client and customer rapport for mutually beneficial business relationships.
  • Identify client needs and effectively communicate operational progress.
  • Coach employees through a shared understanding of what needs to be achieved and how to execute.
  • Recruit, assess, train, schedule, manage, develop, recognize and reward team members.
  • Learn and develop expertise with POS and Catering systems.
  • Implement strategies to increase sales and profitability.
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of all catering-related revenue, expenses and receivables.
  • Respond to and resolve customer issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate food and beverage service with kitchen staff.
  • Ensure safety and sanitation standards are met in all operations.
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors, suppliers and other external partners.
  • Assist in other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar position is required.
  • Must be an experienced leader focused on people and quality standards.
  • Prior experience in a management or supervisory role.
  • Previous experience in events, hospitality and catering.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Availability to work event-based hours, to include evenings, weekends and holidays, is required.
  • Valid liquor license/alcohol service (ABLE) permit and food handling certificate as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) as they relate to POS/Micros cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation and product inventory.

  • Utilize task prioritization and effective time management skills to meet frequent and competing deadlines in a high-volume, high-stress environment.
  • Perform detailed work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment handling multiple tasks with flexibility in a calm, professional manner.
  • Effectively communicate with others in a clear, business-like, respectful and personable manner focused on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative environment.
  • Maintain high standards of appearance and grooming (i.e., clean, wrinkle free clothing, proper uniform/attire, close attention to personal hygiene).
  • Meet the company standard for excellent attendance, job reliability, diligence and dedication.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Speak, read and write in English.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Extended hours, nights and weekends may be required during peak periods.
  • Frequent or continual movement from place to place with normal physical mobility, covering long distances with ease, managing assigned tasks throughout various indoor and outdoor locations within and around the property and in potentially inclement/severe weather conditions.
  • Regularly lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry heavier items and/or assist others in lifting heavier objects, as job demands.
  • Walk and/or stand for extended periods in addition to other prolonged physical exertions including seeing, hearing, reaching, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas may be required.
