ResponsibilitiesP&C Analytics in Financial Operations is looking to hire a business data analyst. A business data analyst combines in-depth business knowledge with a high capacity for analyzing data. They visualize and interpret data to provide actionable analysis to support decision-making. Business data analysts look for patterns or trends and use these to make projections. They may also provide easy-to-read reports that simplify data for key business partners. The key work efforts will include:
  • Using business analytics software to uncover trends, relationships, and insights within the data. And leveraging business knowledge to provide context and proactively share findings.
  • Using historical results, business knowledge, and statistical techniques to develop scenarios of potential outcomes to support decision making.
  • Performing quick analysis to answer business questions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effectively analyzing data, creating appropriate visualizations, and communicating results of analyses to various levels of management with cohesive, understandable, and appropriate message points, summaries, reports, and presentations.
  • Collaborating with key business partners to understand and communicate trends.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner to Executive leadership, collaborating broadly with others across State Farm to enable execution of key enterprise priorities and contributing to strategic, high-impact work.
QualificationsRequired skills:
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, MIS, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance or a related field
  • Programming skills and experience with business analytics software (SQL, SAS, R, Python, Tableau, Power BI or related)
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Qualified candidates will have intellectual curiosity and the technical aptitude to utilize financial, statistical and other types of data to analyze business problems, draw conclusions and articulate recommendations
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated learning agility to quickly learn both new technical skills and business acumen with immediate application of skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and resourcefulness competencies.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and communication competencies.
Additional desired skills:
  • Knowledge/experience related to Property/Casualty Insurance, underwriting, claims, or loss reserves
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Platform and associated tools/services such as dBeaver, Sagemaker, Starburst, etc.
  • Relational Database knowledge (DB2, Redshift, S3)
