What you will be doing:
The Maintenance Foreman oversees a skilled maintenance team responsible for maintaining complex operating systems at the Anchorage Correctional Complex (ACC). They evaluate and prioritize the facility's maintenance needs, ensuring all inspections, testing, preventative maintenance, and repairs are completed. The foreman directs and assesses activities related to operating and capital maintenance and construction projects. They define daily work assignments, establish schedules, and ensure all work complies with relevant codes, specifications, plans, and policies. Additionally, the foreman develops, implements, and maintains a preventive maintenance program, prepares requests for quotations, and has limited purchasing authority for materials and supplies. They also ensure that all security and safety procedures are followed before, during, and after all work is performed.

Who we are looking for:Special skills required; years of experience desired:
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Completed classes in Fire Alarm and Fire Life Safety codes.
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and fundamentals of electrical distribution.
Skills required:
- Excellent writing, computer, negotiating, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong coordination, organizational, and motivational abilities to implement and complete projects.
- Sound decision-making abilities and thorough knowledge of state budget and purchasing regulations.

Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
