Job Description

What you will be doing:
In this role, you will develop, implement, and administer effective statewide communication programs for the division. You will coordinate the division's public relations, media/visual information, Internet/intranet, publications, and training programs. You will collaborate on extensive public relations projects that have a direct and substantial effect on the organization and the public at large.
Our organization, mission, and culture: Our mission is to provide all eligible Alaskans access and oversight to the full range of appropriate Medicaid services. We also protect Alaska's most vulnerable populations through our certification and licensing sections. You would contribute to our mission by clearly articulating Medicaid policies and any changes to policy or operational processes and helping to communicate these things to stakeholders, Medicaid recipients, and the public.

You would be part of building a diverse, yet cohesive team focused on improved communications around health policy as well as having input into research, development, and decision-making. You will be provided opportunities to hone your skills and build your knowledge and competencies in a wide range of areas, including writing and editing, graphic design, and web-internet skills. The person hired for this position must be self-motivated and communicate with the highest level of professionalism.
The working environment you can expect: If the position is hired in Anchorage, it will be conveniently located at 4601 Business Park Blvd, Bldg. K in midtown Anchorage. It has access to restaurants, shopping, bike paths, and nearby Cuddy Family Midtown Park. Free parking is provided.
If in Juneau, the position will be located in the Alaska Office Building, 350 Main Street, Suite 514, with an office overlooking Mount Juneau and easy access to downtown shopping and restaurants. Free parking is also available in State designated parking spots.
In both locations, we offer a hybrid telework schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days at home.

Progressively responsible professional experience such as supporting the administration of a Medicaid or Medicare program, health insurance service, health insurance management information system, health insurance finance or accounting program, Supplemental Security Income benefits or vocational rehabilitation program; auditing or monitoring medical or public assistance programs for fraud or quality assurance; processing medical claims using medical coding and medical billing knowledge; designing, developing, testing for quality assurance, and implementing an information system and/or training or education which includes such course work as business administration, computer sciences, economics, healthcare, legal studies, medical billing or coding, public health, public assistance, psychology.
Special Note:
"Competencies" means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.
"Professional experience" means work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to one's own judgment.
"Progressively responsible" means indicating growth and/or advancement in complexity, difficulty, or level of responsibility.
"Training" and "education" in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom, on-line, self-study, and on-the-job), from accredited and unaccredited sources, and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs.
