This position is being recruited for in Soldotna.
What you will be doing:
This position provides administrative support the department’s Soldotna Office in the areas of customer service, building management, property management, supply management, operations, logistics, and a full array of miscellaneous administrative support to the staff.

This position is the initial contact for all visitors to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Soldotna building and is in addition the “go to” person for DEC Soldotna staff with regards to anything building related, telephone issues, controlled property, and office supply management, along with miscellaneous other administrative duties. It is essential that the incumbent be able to meet the division’s focus to excel in this position.

This position is part of the Operational Support Section within the Division of Administrative Services which is comprised of 7 other section members throughout the State in the Juneau, Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Wasilla offices. The working environment you can expect:
Position is located at 43335 Kalifornsky Beach Rd. The incumbent will be stationed near the main entrance of the DEC Soldotna building and is responsible for greeting and assisting all DEC customers along with answering the main telephone line and processing all outgoing and incoming mail. Along with other miscellaneous administrative support duties.
We are looking for a candidate that has experience in the following areas:

  • Self-Management: Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as performing reception duties, answering routine questions on services or products, retrieving information from electronic or hard copy files, recording expenditures and receipts, or typing routine correspondence.
Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for six months of the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education equal one month of experience).
Special Note:
"High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
Some positions in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.
