State of Alaska is Hiring a Program Coordinator 2 (PCN 06N14001) Near Anchorage, AK

What you will be doing:
This long-term, non-permanent nutrition services position will provide direct services to Alaskan participants of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants & Children (WIC) who do not have a WIC program in their area. This position will process WIC applications, issue WIC benefits, conduct nutrition counseling at least quarterly, initiate outreach in the region to increase participation rates, and develop vital networking strategies to improve service delivery.

Family Nutrition Programs (FNP) is a public assistance and health program which supports:
  • Alaskan individuals, families, and communities to be safe and healthy,
  • Promotes and protects the health and well-being of Alaskans by providing nutrition and breastfeeding education, counseling, support, referrals to needed services and nutritious food to eligible women, infants, and children up to age five, for income eligible families.

  • Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Medicine: Knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of injuries, diseases, and deformities, including preventive healthcare measures.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

  • Compliance:

    Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.

  • Organizational Awareness:
    Knows the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible professional experience developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing a program, project, business, organization, or major components of a program, including having administrative authority over the program/project funding, staff, and/or overall operations.

Special Note
:
“Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.
“Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
“Training” and “education” are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom, on-line, self-study, and on-the-job), from accredited and unaccredited sources, and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs.
“Professional experience” means work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to one's own judgment.

Additional Required Information

At time of interview applicant is requested to submit:

  • A Registered Dietitian license, or eligibility to become licensed within 6 months, in Alaska is desired.

  • Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Dietician in the State of Alaska may apply for vacancies in this job class.
