Administers tests for issuance of driving permits and licenses by utilizing automated testing computer system, written tests, road tests, and vision tests. Performs pre-trip inspection on all applicant vehicles prior to administering road tests. Verifies the identification of all documents presented by individuals applying for a license. Performs background checks utilizing the Arkansas Crime Information Center or the National Crime Information Center. Maintains daily logs of the number of tests given and the pass/fail rate for driver’s tests. Provides information to the general public on obtaining driver’s licenses and directs the public to appropriate places and times for testing. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsThe formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus six months of experience working with the general public as a driving instructor or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
