Position will function as the first-line working supervisor, providing direction to the custodial staff. Position is accountable, including signature authority, for actions and decisions that directly impact pay, status, and tenure of subordinate staff. Oversee staff and assign work determining best practices, work procedures and processes that will accomplish all housekeeping tasks in a timely and thorough manner.
This position will schedule staff hours, keep attendance logs, and work to resolve any issues that arise. Responsibilities include training staff on equipment usage, safety practices, and compliance with environmental regulations. Provide documentation to support recommended corrective and disciplinary actions, sign performance plans and appraisals, and resolve informal grievances. Initiate the hiring process, interview applicants, and recommend hire, promotion, or transfer.
Perform housekeeping duties such as vacuuming carpets, dust mopping and wet mopping surface floors, cleaning and detailing offices, classrooms, restrooms, and conference rooms. This includes, but is not limited to, collecting and removing trash, cleaning trash cans, replacing liners, and replacing paper towels, toilet paper, soap in restrooms, conference rooms, and classrooms. Also responsible for cleaning chalk/white boards, trays, and stocking chalk and markers, removing graffiti, straightening, and returning furniture to proper positions, cleaning and disinfecting furniture, desktops, sinks, countertops, fixtures, glass, mirrors, dispensers, hand dryers, kick plates, vents, and door handles. Identify and report maintenance or repair needs for equipment, recommend replacement as appropriate. Perform any other duties related to housekeeping as assigned. Assist with snow and ice removal when necessary.
Responsible for creating and establishing a schedule for non-routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, which includes coordinating, assigning, monitoring, inspecting, and assisting staff. Oversee major window washing. Assist in the movement and placement of furnishings for projects. Responsible for completing special projects and assigning staff to these projects, including stripping solid surface floors, spot removing and extracting, bonneting, shampooing carpets, cleaning upholstery chairs, sofa chairs, couches, and repairing custodial equipment.
Monitor, track, and order custodial inventory. Utilize computer to approve timesheets and leave, send emails, correspond with vendors, etc. Utilize a variety of computer software applications for e-mail, electronic timesheet management database, Internet, Outlook, etc.
