Position Summary:
This position exists to manage the operations, including private pay, Medicare/Medicaid, and insurance billing of the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Clinic. The position requires an individual who can communicate courteously and effectively with clients, faculty, staff, students, and student employees who are diverse developmentally, culturally, and linguistically; analyze, evaluate and develop, and implement clinic processes to achieve program efficiencies and deliver clinical services effectively; generate and monitor billing of clients, Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers; record and balance deposits to monitor accounts receivable, make client debt collection contacts and determine when to refer to State Collection Agency; act as a receptionist in the clinic (greet clients, handle inquiries, schedule appointments, etc.); assist the faculty clinic coordinators in audiology and speech-language pathology in client scheduling, assignment of student clinicians to identified clinical experiences, determination of customary clinic fees, updating clinic handbook, and maintenance of student records; resolve client, faculty, staff, and student concerns; hire, train, supervise, and evaluate work-study students and graduate assistants employed in the clinic; monitor hearing aid orders, repairs, and returns; maintain and monitor clinic files in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ASHA standards; and, assist in preparation and distribution of clinic reports.
Responsibilities:
Complete all billing for Speech-Language & Audiology Services - 45%
Generates and monitors client's financial accounts by billing private-pay clients, government programs (Medicare/Medicaid/CHIP ), and private insurers, monitoring accounts receivable, initiating client debt collection contacts, and deciding when to defer to State Collection Agency.
Speech-Language & Audiology Clinic Manager - 35%
Directs and facilitates productivity of the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Clinic's front office and reception area by providing reception services as needed; creating systems to manage work flow; identifying barriers to effective service delivery; establishing and maintaining effective, cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff and students in ASLS; resolving client concerns/complaints; maintaining client files in accordance with HIPAA requirements and ASHA guidelines; printing and mailing reports; developing advertising/clinic brochures; maintaining databases, creating and maintaining spreadsheets; organizing office contents; and retrieving data appropriate to support clinic and clinical education goals of program.
Works with clinic coordinators in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology to develop and implement policies and procedures, provide hearing aid repairs, set fees, schedule student clinicians, monitor student performance, analyze data.
Hires, trains, manages, and evaluates work study students and graduate assistants. Trains staff members on office procedures, telephone systems, office equipment and scheduling of appointments. Assures that staff is trained in on all areas related to medical records including HIPAA regulations and procedures for medical records content, processing, confidentiality, and release of records to individuals or outside agencies. Assures that staff is trained in appropriate interaction and communication strategies with clients and families who are diverse developmentally, culturally, and linguistically.
Communicate effectively with various stakeholders - 10%
Communicates courteously and effectively with developmentally, culturally, and linguistically diverse clients, family members, faculty, staff, students, work study & GA employees, government and private insurance company agents, and community agencies/individuals through face-to-face, telephone contacts, email, and written correspondence in order to provide information, schedule appointments, resolve problems, and provide instruction/training.
Accounting - 10%
Maintains accurate financial records for clinic income and expenditures by providing accurate, detailed information on clinic transactions and making daily deposits. Completes accounts payables and reconciles PCard each month.

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to five (5) years
