Department Information

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: Army national Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities, state, and nation with a ready military force for national defense and state emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado veterans.

Description of Job

This position provides administrative support services to all individuals and clients within the Western Region One Source as part of the Veterans Affairs division in Grand Junction. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • first point of contact for all visitors and clients, answers phones, directs clients, and ensures a clean and pleasant welcoming atmosphere;
  • become the office expert on local, State, and Federal resources for veterans, military members, and their families;
  • triage visitor needs to direct them to the appropriate service to meet their needs;
  • data entry of veteran records, update and compile veterans records, and inform actions taken to veteran cases;
  • perform a variety of clerical activities to include typing correspondence, emails, copying, faxing, filing, calendaring meetings and events and developing and maintaining various databases and spreadsheets;
  • receive and coordinate the mailings for all professionals and clients within the facility, preparing and updating brochures, pamphlets, and other materials;
  • maintain strict confidentiality at all times and handle sensitive data appropriately; and
  • act as the main point of security by use of sound judgment to mitigate potential escalating situations, acting in accordance with facility rules and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of clerical experience in a busy front desk environment requiring multi-tasking.
