Description Of JobPosition Summary:An active contributor and collaborator joining a well-established and high performing team of high caliber educators and leaders within the Educator Effectiveness (EE) Office. The EE team provides responsive side-by-side support to all Colorado school districts and BOCES, and tailors our work to honor local educator evaluation systems, values, and unique needs. The EE Support Specialist coordinates and bolsters the day-to-day function, statewide capacity building, and related work of the EE Office, as well as serves as lead technical support for the Colorado Performance Management System in RANDA.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure high quality, timely, and accurate customer service and technical support during office hours for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide responsive external customer service as the primary point-of-contact on behalf of the EELD team. Customer service may include and is not limited to: providing technical assistance on the State Model Evaluation System and the Colorado Performance Management System (COPMS) in RANDA; responding to questions from districts/BOCES regarding related legislation and rule; answering general questions about educator evaluation systems; monitoring and responding to questions/requests received through dedicated EELD email accounts; and serving as a general resource broker and conduit to the EELD team.
  • Provide internal customer service to both the EELD team as well as to other CDE offices by: providing timely answers to any inquires made in support of the field; researching questions related to legislation, rule, and/or educator evaluation implementation practices; and serving as a general resource broker for internal stakeholders, among others.
  • Support the ongoing technical management of the Colorado Performance Management System (RANDA).
  • Maintain a political frame in all communication and interactions related to the development and communication of educator evaluation requirements.
  • Support the communication, facilitation, and revisions of legislatively mandated and regularly occurring activities such as and not limited to: updating the State Model Evaluation System, creating/updating corresponding training materials and guidance documents, and creating/maintaining monthly communication activities and announcements.
  • Coordinate, create, and maintain the EELD Office webpages and communication documents.
  • Support the communication, registration, development, and preparation of materials for trainings and/or presentations at conferences as well as regional events to support/enhance quality implementation practices in evaluation systems and leadership development.
  • Utilize and support the effective and efficient use of internal project management tools and data tracking tools (e.g., Smartsheet and Salesforce).
  • Provide support to the Manager of Educator Effectiveness, the Executive Director of Educator Workforce Development, and the continuous improvement of EELD Office processes to meet the needs of the Unit as well as districts/BOCES.
  • Support the collaborative efforts of the CDE by ensuring a broad understanding of all initiatives, projects, and bodies of work occurring as they intersect with educator evaluation requirements and leadership development.
  • Serve as a support representative on related committees and workgroups (unit, department, and/or state) as determined by the Manager of Educator Effectiveness and the Executive Director of Educator Workforce Development.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Educator Effectiveness or Executive Director of Educator Workforce Development.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal RightsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s or higher degree in education or related field
Minimum QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS:
  • 5 years professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years K-12 education experience
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with project management, especially in support of large-scale, complex programs
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively in virtual and in-person work environments
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a positive, collaborative member of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated strength in detail-oriented organization, communication skills, and efficiency in meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in generative thought-partnership and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional growth, learning, and self-reflection
  • Demonstrated strength and proficiency using MS Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience using the Colorado Performance Management System (COPMS) in RANDA
  • More than 7 years professional experience, with 5 years K-12 education experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of educator evaluation systems in Colorado, including requirements in state statute and State Board rule
  • Experience as a Colorado teacher, principal, or district/BOCES leader
