Summary Statement

This is the entry level of case processing work in the Court of Chancery, learning the legal processes and procedures and performing the full range of processing activities of limited complexity within the Court. An employee will become eligible for consideration to move to the next level of the career ladder after one year within this classification once he or she meets the minimum qualifications and performance requirements for the higher level and possesses the ability to perform at that level. The Judicial Case Processor career ladder incorporates levels I, II, and III.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here. Front Counter – perform name searches through Contexte, fax/scan/copy paperwork as required, run and transport daily dockets of prior days’ accepted clerk-reviewed documents and supplementals to the law library daily as designated, answer incoming calls, retrieve and handle/forward appropriately any voicemail messages received, assist walk-in customers and couriers regarding civil actions in a professional manner, assist guardianship walk-in customers as needed, sort and distribute incoming mail and process civil action paperwork daily, review civil action pro-se filings for completeness according to the court rules and procedures, responsible for posting signs, opening/closing the doors, assisting users and ensure the Mediation Center has been properly cleaned at the end of each day.�File and ServeXpress System – clerk review any/all efiled and new case documents in File and ServeXpress for all judicial officers daily along with printing and distributing the supplemental information sheet and summons instructions letter or praecipe and ensure proper notification of case information for any expedited cases.�� Registered Mailings – prepare and type Statutory Registered Mailing letters and Register’s Certificate, prepare and complete postage and USPS-required paperwork using a postage meter, stuff envelopes with the stator registered mailing documents according to post office requirements, contact the mail delivery service to have the registered mailing envelopes and paperwork taken to the post office, e-file Register’s Certificate and attach the mailing proof provided at the post office when the proof is received from the delivery service, and provide the e-filed Register’s Certificate to the financial team.�� Other duties as assigned – consistently maintain professionalism when communicating with attorneys/pro-se litigants/co-workers/supervisors/judicial officers both in-person and on the telephone, responsible for the RIC payment intake documents/folder, ensure that any RIC timeclocks are properly changed the first workday of each month, and process and e-file reviewed summonses.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Judicial Case Processor IApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Six months experience in document processing which includes reviewing and evaluating records for completeness and conformity with laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures, resolve deficiencies, interpret information, and track and monitor activities. Six months experience in record keeping. Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.

Conditions of Hire

A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. Direct deposit of paychecks is required as a condition of hire.
