Total Compensation Estimator Tool The Division of Health Care Policy and Oversight protects Floridians through oversight of health care providers. Health Care Policy and Oversight licenses and/or certifies and regulates over 30 different types of health care providers, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home health agencies. In total, the Division licenses, certifies, regulates, or provides exemptions for more than 50,000 providers.
The Work You'll DoThis is a complex administrative and health care regulatory work position located in the Deputy Secretary's Office for Health Care Policy and Oversight, reporting to the Senior Management Analyst Supervisor. This position requires a 40-hour work week Monday-Friday.
ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent may be expected to work during office closures in the event of a disaster. Duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Coordinates the preparation of materials relating to routine and special projects and information requests.
Assists in compiling and presenting data.
Maintains knowledge of frequently requested Division statistics, indicators, and goals.
Supports the report writers in the unit with the maintenance of reports.
Coordinates the completion of the Division's participation in the development of the long-rang program plan, Division overview documents and other required reports.
Organizes disaster management relief as applicable. Assists with disaster preparedness and policy.
Provides leadership on legislative activities concerning the Division including: coordinating the preparation of legislative presentations; tracking legislative bills; policy review of legislative bills and amendments to ensure analyses reflect appropriate policy; training Division staff with regards to bill analyses and the Legislative Bill Analysis Tracking site; ensuring timely submission of the analyses; and ensuring the Deputy Secretary is aware of all aspects of major bills affecting the Division of Health Care Policy and Oversight.
Assist with the preparation of responses to inquiries from the Office of Legislative Affairs.
Strong reading, writing and analytical skills are sought for this position.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesAbility to use standard office machinery, including copiers, fax machines, scanners, and computers. Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, and other agency software.
Capability to learn new software (i.e. Visio, LobbyTools, CorrFlow SharePoint, Tableau) and application systems.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of laws, rules, policies, and procedures governing health care facilities and the types of health maintenance organizations regulated by the Division of Health Quality Assurance.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to analyze reports of many types to detect and correct problems.
Ability to plan, organize and complete work assignments timely.
Minimum Qualifications Requirements
  • Four years of professional experience in policy analysis, program research, program planning, program evaluation, systems analysis, or administrative work.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • A master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university can substitute for two years of the required experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of the Florida legislative process, emergency management, or experience in data querying, dashboards, and analysis.
