Junior Data Analyst

Government Operations Consultant II

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position performs advanced level work under the limited supervision of the Government Operations Consultant III-SES and serves as a Junior Data Analyst in the Data Management Unit of the Bureau of Labor Market Statistics Data Services Section. The incumbent in this position will prepare, transform, and clean data for exploration, analysis, reporting, and visualization. This is a highly responsible position requiring knowledge of data analysis methods and techniques.

Responsible for creating automated Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) workflows in tools such as Alteryx to improve process efficiency.

Queries and manipulates data using programming languages such as R, Python, and/or Structured Query Language (SQL).

Assists in building, implementing, and supporting visualizations in Tableau using various data sources including (but not limited to) Microsoft SQL Server, Excel, and Snowflake.

Contributes to projects and assignments as part of project teams, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality delivery while maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsible for mapping and documenting processes, coordinating process improvement efforts, and maintaining records of data sources, assumptions, and methodologies used in projects and analytical tasks.

Uses standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to produce reports, documents, and other written materials for projects utilizing FloridaCommerce and external data sources.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection, analysis, and storage.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

Minimum:

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software tools, programming languages, and domain areas.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection, analysis, and storage.
  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
  • Incumbent may be required to travel.

Preferred:

  • One year of experience in data analysis.
  • One year of experience using Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools.
  • Ability to use R, Python, and/or SQL.
  • Alteryx Designer Core Certification or Alteryx Designer Advanced Certification.
  • Tableau Desktop Specialist or Tableau Certified Data Analyst.

Pay:

$51,120.00 - $52,653.60

The LMS Data Services Section is responsible for managing the economic data produced and acquired by LMS staff and creating useful data products that benefit Floridians and help drive economic policy. The Data Services Section also aids numerous other FloridaCommerce program areas with data analytics and business intelligence, helping to turn data into useful information.
