General SummaryThe Florida House of Representatives seeks a Systems Engineer with a strong understanding of infrastructure technology and a proven track record in SAN technology implementation and operations. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, highly driven, and possess strong presentation skills.
FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE: Pursuant to sections 112.3144 and 112.3145, F.S., this position is required to electronically file a Form 1 – Statement of Financial Interests with the Florida Commission on Ethics within 30 days of hire.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor the integrity of Data Domain systems. Verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups and perform restores.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor VMware ESXi, Windows 2016, 2019 & 2022 servers. Responsibilities on these systems include provisioning, operations and support, end-user training, maintenance and research, and development.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor Microsoft Exchange 2019.
  • Install, configure, deploy, monitor, and manage virtual servers across an enterprise environment.
  • Apply Operating System patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
  • Ensure documentation and policy/procedure compliance for IT systems related to Virtualized and Windows environments.
  • Perform various roles including research and design, testing, installation, configuration, hardening, provisioning, general systems monitoring, response, and documentation.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Solid understanding and experience with Dell Data Domain.
  • Experience configuring, maintaining, and administrating Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, Microsoft Hyper-V, and VMWare.
  • Experience maintaining and administrating Microsoft Exchange 2019.
  • Experience with enterprise storage (FC, FCoE, NFS, and iSCSI).
  • Experience in engineering and implementing disk storage solutions.
  • General IP Networking knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of file systems, disk partitioning, quotas, and data security.
  • Understanding of standard networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SMTP, ICMP, NTP).
  • Familiarity with Desktop Operating Systems, Windows 11.
  • Experience in system hardening based on known and discovered vulnerabilities.
  • Able to communicate effectively (listening and seeking clarification) with all levels of internal and external customers, while responding well to questions.
The candidate must be able to multi-task and communicate effectively to manage multiple engagements, technical priorities, and goals efficiently.
Minimum QualificationsA bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business administration, education, communications, graphic arts, mathematics, statistics, geography, or engineering and three years of progressively responsible information systems experience.
Progressively responsible information systems experience can be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Any combination of progressively responsible information systems experiences and post-secondary training in disciplines as described above totaling seven years.
Salary Hiring salary commensurate with experience with an anticipated salary of $60,000 to $80,000. The Legislature offers a competitive benefits package.
This position is not eligible for remote work.
