The Work You Will DoOPS GOVT OPERS CONSULT II (Resource Management Project Assistant) - 37970400The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and well-organized individual to provide natural and cultural resource project status and budget tracking support for the Division of Recreation and Parks.
Florida State Parks span the entire state with 175 state parks and trails, the only state park system in the United States to be recognized four times with the gold medal award. Pay$19.00 per hour
Your Specific Responsibilities
  • This position assists in:
    • Managing tasks and organizing and tracking status updates for natural and cultural resource management projects across the Southwest District.
    • Documenting and tracking project costs and accomplishments
    • Procurement and financial tracking (database entry) for statewide projects managed by BNCR.
  • Other duties include performing data collection and management; assisting with regular project update calls and virtual meetings; performing clerical data entry; quality control/review of project documents; preparing, uploading, and distributing monthly reports as needed.
  • Periodic travel may be required to conduct site visits to monitor project progress.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesKnowledge of:
  • Project tracking principles and practice
  • Office procedures and practice; data collection; personal computers;
  • Natural resource management, biology, botany, geology, or other related earth sciences / land management principles.
Skilled In
  • Microsoft Office Suite especially Office 365, Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, Share Point, E-Mail, Adobe acrobat, and online databases.
  • Time management; organization; and process management.
Ability To
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and quickly adapt to change.
  • Collect, organize, evaluate and analyze data; perform filing.
  • Take the lead on assignments and responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work well with others and individually; maintain a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Produce timely and effective results; provide quality solutions; apply problem solving techniques.
  • Organize and coordinate work assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher education in natural resource management, biology, botany, geology, or other related earth sciences / land management programs
  • One-year professional experience preferred
