The Florida Department of Health (DOH) is seeking an organized, flexible, and motivated individual to become an essential member of the Public Health Reporting Section of the Division of Public Health Statistics and Performance Management. If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and want to help influence the quality of public health in Florida, please apply to become an OPS Goverment Operations Consultant I in the Bureau of Community Health Assessment within the Division of Public Health Statistics and Performance Management. The Department works to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Public health reporting, including planning, writing, research and development, and implementation of FLHealthCHARTS.gov reports and products
  • Providing technical support to public health programs and providers
  • Communicating with public health programs to facilitate the collection of health outcome data
  • Routinely updating FLHealthCHARTS.gov to highlight state health priorities
  • Providing support for publications such as the State Health Assessment, the State Health Improvement Plan, and the Vital Statistics Annual Report
  • Support the collection and monitoring of indicators across divisions and county health departments for performance management and outcome assessment
  • Provides support for presentations to educate audiences about the FLHealthCHARTS website

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of public health, public administration, health care or social services
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely
  • Ability to write grammatically correct and accurate reports that communicate concise reports
  • Ability to review and analyze agency records and documents
  • Ability to provide effective presentations and information to a broad range of audiences, internal and external to the Department
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a team member
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment (ability to be flexible)
  • Ability to complete, plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
  • Skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL or willingness to learn

Qualifications:

  • Public health experience
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft (MS) Excel or similar program

Preferred - A Master’s degree from a college or university is preferred. Professional experience in social services, public health, or health care is preferred. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills, flexibility, innovation, and a desire to improve health care for Florida’s residents.
