Overview:

The Florida Gaming Control Commission ("FGCC") is a five-member commission appointed by the Governor. It regulates, investigates, and enforces Florida pari-mutuel and casino gaming statutes and rules.

The FGCC seeks a skilled Research Assistant to work with the Executive Team on specialized and often complex projects. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who will bring fresh ideas and creativity to projects.

Position Responsibilities:

The Research Assistant will work under the direction of the Executive Director of the FGCC and will:

  • Conduct detailed research on assigned subjects of agency programs or operations.
  • Collect data in focused areas using surveys, simulation, and other methods.
  • Prepare written reports and recommendations outlining potential solutions for problems or proposed adoptions of new programs or procedures.
  • Perform statistical analyses and technical conceptual analyses in assigned subject areas.
  • Perform special research on cases, laws, rules, and regulations to prepare correspondence with the governor, cabinet members, and legislators.
  • Handle non-public information and collaborate with a law enforcement agency on data related to criminal activity.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to collect, compile, summarize, and analyze statistical data using established statistical methodology.
  • Ability to prepare charts, graphs, diagrams, and other visual representations of statistical data.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to statistics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school degree and current enrollment in an accredited college or university is required. Current enrollment in a master’s program is preferred.
  • Experience in statistics and data analysis.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills.
