Personnel Technician III / HR - SES

This advertisement is for an SES position assigned to Region III. The position will be located at Lake Correctional Institution.

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

Salary : $39,312.00

POSITION OVERVIEW :

This position will be responsible for assisting the Human Resource Manager with the recruitment and selection processing of applications to ensure compliance for the regional correctional officer’s recruitment functions with applicable rules, policies, procedures, and statutes.

Duties and responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following :

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assist with the processing of Correctional Officer applications by working with the Human Resource Manager, Regional Recruiter, and Institutional Recruitment Representatives to carry out Correctional Officer recruitment efforts for the assigned region.
  • Assist with the maintenance of recruitment and selection packets, collecting required background investigation documents and forms, and other required documentation for processing applications.
  • Assists with efforts to ensure recruitment activities deployed during the competitive recruitment process are organized, efficient, and promote the best practices in hiring to improve staff retention rates.
  • Assist with the completion of special projects to enhance recruitment initiatives as requested.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and coordinating activities of recruitment e.g., job fairs, hiring events.
  • Acts as a liaison between the assigned region and Central Office, Office of Human Resources relating to the background investigations and hiring process for Correctional Officer candidates.
  • Administers personnel policies and procedures for effective and uniform application throughout the recruitment process.
  • Update tracking logs for applicant flow, identify trends and ensure the appropriate timeframes are met.
  • Compile and provides appropriate reports for production tracking, vacancies and other recruitment metrics as requested.
  • Provides technical assistance, consultation, and assist with training to institutional and regional employees regarding personnel activities, concepts, policies, rules, and Florida Statutes.
  • Represents the department at statewide or regional meetings and conferences as required. Must be willing to travel overnight both in and out of state.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

  • Knowledge of state rules, policies, procedures, and practices related to personnel functions
  • Knowledge of Florida Statutes and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, software, and applications
  • Skills in data collection and analysis
  • Skills in communicating effectively with others as indicated by the needs of the audience
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to collect and evaluate data relating to personnel program functions
  • Ability to collect, organize, and maintain records related to personnel programs
  • Ability to compose correspondence
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to human resources program functions
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions
  • Ability to listen to others and asking questions as appropriate
  • Ability to maintain a professional level of conduct in all aspects of work performance

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

High School diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of human resources / personnel experience one (1) of which must be at a professional level.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Experience in high volume recruitment.
  • Experience in State of Florida’s People First system.
  • Experience in a correctional setting.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Suite applications.
