State of Georgia is Hiring an Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Maintenance Tech - Garden City Near Savannah, GA

The Georgia National Guard’s Air Dominance Center (ADC), located at the Savannah Combat Training Readiness Center, provides combat aircraft units from across the Department of Defense an environment whereby participants, in a fully integrated, cross-domain, joint concept, can train to exploit the unique characteristics of air, space, maritime, and cyberspace to deliver dominance across a vast range of operational environments. Large force exercises, hosted at least quarterly at the ADC, bring dozens of aircraft and hundreds of military personnel from across the country for temporary assignment in Savannah's International Airport to train in vast instrumented airspace, benefit from advanced Air Combat Training Systems and facilities, and live in the comfortable surroundings provided at the training center weeks at a time. Because of its modern conferencing space, lodging, and dining capabilities, the ADC also plays host to multiple national level meetings hosting hundreds of attendees. Supported by a conglomeration of full and part time Air National Guardsmen, federal contractors, and state employees, the ADC has been recognized as the premier fighter integration training center in the country as well as a preferred conferencing location for the Department of Defense and other state and federal agencies.
The ADC is looking for a knowledgeable and technically competent AGE Maintenance Technician to identify, repair or replace numerous electronic (both digital and analog) components of various types of AGE equipment in accordance with applicable Air Force Technical Orders and manuals. The AGE Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the accurate interpretation of numerous manufacturer drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and test procedures, to troubleshoot, calibrate, align and repair a variety of high complex pieces of powered AGE support equipment.
Responsibilities of the AGE Maintenance Technician will also include:
  • Performing inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing, repair, and adjustments on complex rotary diesel engines IAW applicable Technical Orders and manuals.
  • Performing intermediate-level maintenance on powered support equipment and non-powered support equipment to include working on cryogenic equipment, engine and generator changes, removing, repairing, and overhauling of accessories, and rebuilding of units.
  • Using a variety of sophisticated testers, such as analyzers, digital meters, oscilloscopes and other measuring devices to determine repair requirements IAW applicable Technical Orders and manuals.
  • Correcting unusual maintenance problems, by interpreting a variety of technical data such as tables, charts, formulas, color codes, wiring diagrams and schematic symbols.
  • Performing circuit analyses, considering integrated circuit relationships and applying electronic principles in order to fault-isolate and repair the various digital devices contained in the highly complex powered support equipment.
  • Performing maintenance data collection, and prepare other required forms IAW applicable Technical Orders and Air Force regulations.
The selected candidate must be able to lift 40lbs overhead, bend, lift, stoop, and stand for prolonged periods of time on a regular basis. Regular exposure to noise (close proximity to flightline), aircraft engine exhaust, heavy lifting, extreme weather conditions due to working outdoors, and slip hazards from petroleum products should be expected.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the entry qualifications, possess the technical expertise and knowledge to perform the tasks outlined in the full position description without supervision and additional training. Air Force equivalent qualifications are included in Air Force Specialty Codes 2A6X2. Typically, the expertise and knowledge would be gained during three or more years of active duty or reserve component service in the Air Force.

Vocational/Technical degree in area of assignment from an accredited college AND Two years of experience in area of assignment OR Four years of experience in area of assignment OR One year of experience at the lower level Aircraft Mechanic 2 (FET081) or position equivalent.
