State of Georgia is Hiring a GED Teacher -Augusta YDC - Augusta, GA (NSC) Near Augusta, GA

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, instructs and supervises students of a state educational, rehabilitation, health care or youth detention facility. Develops individual instruction plans, provides instruction, completes reports and tutors students.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Instructs students in vocational and pre-vocational skills.
  • Maintains necessary reporting systems.
  • Prepares and delivers progress reports.
  • Prepares and maintains students` records.
  • Prepares daily work plans and instructional materials for classroom use.
  • Prepares lesson plans and laboratory exercises.
  • Provides individual attention and assistance to meet the varied needs and abilities of students.
  • Teaches and instructs through lectures, demonstrations and audio/visual aids

MINIMUM QUALICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or recognized certification in the area of vocational assignment;
  • or one (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Instructor 1 (EDP020) or position equivalent.

Note: Positions may require area specific certifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to applicants who possess one or more of the following:

  • Experience teaching adults` basic academic skills (Reading, Math and Writing) in a formal educational setting.
  • Advanced degrees in content areas of Reading, Math or English, curriculum and instruction; Adult Education or Special Education.
  • Previous teaching experience in juvenile or adult correctional settings.
  • A minimum of a bachelor`s degree with experience in teaching all areas Math, Science, Social Studies, English.
  • Experience in teaching GED classes.
