State of Georgia is Hiring a Lab Technician- Automotive Near Lawrenceville, GA

This job is a full-time, benefited, FLSA non-exempt position in the Public and Professional Services Division that reports to the Program Director of General Automotive.

Salary: Salary not to exceed $40,000/yr

Schedule:This is a 40-hour per week position that reports to the Lawrenceville campus

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 32701):
High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

Post – Secondary education and automotive experience. Excellent technical/ computer skills in MS Office Suites; Word, Excel and Access. Demonstrates initiative. Demonstrates professionalism in appearance. Possesses good interpersonal skills: with faculty; colleagues and peers; and students.

In addition, the following technical competencies are preferred:

  • Knowledge of hand/power tools and automotive supplies;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload;
  • Ability to communicate, meet deadlines, exhibit proper judgment in selecting which questions to handle or re-direct.
  • ASE Certification

Job Description Summary:

Assist the Program Director, Instructors and Division Dean in developing, monitoring and maintaining an inventory system in the automotive labs. Assist with the supervising and evaluating students in an on-campus automotive lab setting. Maintain a database of automotive labs. In addition, Update Hazardous materials and safety standards in the labs on a regular basis. Assist Program Directors with ordering supplies, tools, equipment and consumables for the automotive division.

Duties/Responsibilities

1. Maintain equipment and supplies, including ordering, stocking and organizing.

a. Accurately enters supply items received and supply items pulled into computer system.

b. Accurately records out of stock items and notifies appropriate personnel.

c. Accurately manage consumable use and reordering

2. Ensure that labs and storage areas are neat and orderly.

a. Maintains and accurate list of items received.

b. Continuously checks storage areas to ensure that they are secure.

3. Conduct lab activities (including demonstration of tasks, grading of projects, and documentation).

4. Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

5. Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Gwinnett Technical College
