General Information
- Incumbent uses their professional background to develop and maintain accounting systems, prepare complex financial documents, plan and review financial operations.
- Incumbent will analyze technical financial problems and provide professional assistance and advice concerning their solutions.
- This position requires a strong background in analyzing, researching, and maintaining financial data, developing financial documents, resolving system problems, and handling day-to-day accounting issues.
- The agency has a flexible work week and telecommuting policies for staff who demonstrate an appropriate level of independence and accountability.
- Reviewing and approving financial transactions.
- Reconciling revenues between various accounting systems.
- Preparing fiscal reports and analysis for federal and state submission.
- Reviewing financial processes and procedures and recommending improvements.
- Preparing and disseminating ad hoc financial reports and spreadsheets for leadership and staff.
- Advising leadership of budgetary concerns, needs, regulations, and appropriate allocation of funds based on prior history and/or present fiscal conditions.
- Determining compliance with accounting principles and standards, laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Resource to agency staff for grant related budgets, revenue/expense, projections, fund balance, and cash balance data.
- Contributing to documentation and standardization efforts for financial processes and procedure.
- Lead research efforts related to financial policy, procedures, and/or reporting standards.
- Developing the Commissions Budget.
- Conducting desk reviews to determine sub-recipient compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Technical assistance, including webinars or presentations, to sub-recipients including Area Agencies on Aging.
- Accounting principles and practices.
- Developing and preparing financial documents.
- Using a personal computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data.
- Analyzing financial activities and recommending management action.
