DescriptionThe Idaho Industrial Commission is looking for a Financial Specialist to perform a variety of professional financial duties that require the application of accounting, auditing, economic, finance, and statistical principles. The applicant chosen for this position will analyze financial records and documents, perform reconciliations, conduct premium tax audits, write formal business correspondence, conduct research, create reports, and develop written recommendations. Example Of Duties
Review applications from insurers requesting to carry workers’ compensation insurance in Idaho, determine conformity to statutory and administrative rule requirements, and make written recommendations to the Financial Officer
Perform premium tax audits, including the collection and verification of all supporting documentation
Provide guidance to insurance companies; resolve payment or reporting issues
Monitor security deposit requirements for adequacy and recommend action
Process requests for security deposit reductions
Perform annual financial statement analysis to assess financial strength and condition of authorized self-insured employers
Assist in a backup capacity for the Fiscal Department
Minimum Qualifications
Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices, typically gained through the following:
Four years of full-time work experience in accounting applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP),
OR at least two years of full-time work experience in accounting applying GAAP AND completion of at least 12 college semester hours in accounting or equivalent coursework,
OR possession of a Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field that includes 20 semester hours in Accounting.
Experience using computer software to develop, analyze, and report on financial data
ExperienceDESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Working in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel and Word
Communicating both orally and in writing in a professional capacity
Researching, compiling, and summarizing data for reports
Analyzing financial activities and recommending management action
Conducting financial audits
Interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies
