Logan Correctional Center is searching for a proactive employee to lead and manage business operations. The Business Administrator position at Logan Correctional Center serves as the lead business professional at a centrally located facility in Illinois with a staff of over 700 full-time employees and is responsible for managing an annual operating budget of approximately $18.9 million. As the Business Office Supervisor, the Business Administrator directs a staff of seventeen employees in the dedicated roles of accounting, payroll, timekeeping, trust fund, mailroom, and inventory management. The ideal candidate will be able to organize business operations at a medium facility with a substantial budget while maintaining strict security protocols and confidentiality. Essential Function 1

  • Serves as the Business Administrator.
  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • Administers, implements, and directs accounting functions.
  • Administers, implements, and monitors purchasing functions.
  • Remains up-to-date and in compliance with applicable standards of Commission on Accreditation, Administrative Regulations and Directives, Procedures Manual, Statewide Accounting Management System Manual and Local Business Procedures Manual.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications 1

  • Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
  • Prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in fiscal operations for a public or business organization.

Preferred Qualifications 1

  • At least three (3) years of experience performing full range of fiscal functions within a large organization.
  • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience utilizing automated financial systems.
  • Bachelors' Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Finance, Economics or Accounting.
  • Experience managing a multi-million-dollar budget for a large organization.
  • At least three (3) years of experience with contract establishment, contract monitoring, and procurement processes.
  • More than three (3) years of experience with automated financial systems.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in property control and inventory management.
  • At least six (6) months of experience with BidBuy or other procurement software.
  • Experience interpreting collective bargaining contracts and supervising union covered employees.
  • More than three (3) years of experience conducting fiscal operations within a multi-million-dollar organization.

  • Ability to be on call.
  • Ability to work at various times outside of normal office hours to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work within a correctional center.
  • Ability to pass the !DOC/IDJJ background check.
