  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • At least two years of experience in EEO/AA and/or Title IX program development and complaint administration 
  • Work experience in negotiations, presentations, and educational programs, managing projects, oversight and management of sensitive and confidential documents and files, interviewing skills, and negotiating skills. 
  • Strong communication skills, including writing, interpersonal interactions, and public speaking 
  • Experience conducting individual and/or group facilitation to foster effective communication and healthy workplace relationships among employees and management. 
  • Previous experience establishing and overseeing processes, procedures, and preparing summary reports, conclusions, and recommendations. 
  • Understanding of best practices in K12 education related to EEO/AA, Title IX, and employee grievance processes 
  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license 
  • Experience with word-processing, spreadsheet, and email systems and ability to quickly learn new systems as needed 
  • Ability to work with diverse groups 
  • High level of discretion with sensitive information 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Ability to design, complete, and evaluate programs to meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff served. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours as necessary, including evenings and weekends 
  • Must pass a drug screening and a criminal background check. A person may be employed pending the results of these screenings.
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Title IX Training and/or Certification 
  • EEO/AA Training and/or Certification
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, contemporary issues facing adolescents, and characteristics of gifted students
  • Prior experience working with teenagers/young adults in a residential setting
  • Establishing and overseeing processes, procedures, and preparing summary reports, conclusions, and recommendations related to EEO/AA and/or Title IX
The Coordinator of Civil Rights Compliance administers the Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action function of the LSMSA and is the person who serves as the School’s designated agent for coordinating LSMSA’s EEO/AA, Title IX, Title VII, and grievance compliance efforts.
The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing policies, processes, procedures, and training related to these areas and will work with the campus community to assure compliance with EEO/AA and Title IX regulations. This includes overseeing and monitoring compliance with state and federal policies as they pertain to LSMSA; implementing grievance procedures, including notification, investigation and disposition of complaints; amending policies as needed; providing educational materials and training for the campus community; conducting and/or coordinating investigations of complaints received pursuant to EEO/AA or Title IX; ensuring a fair and neutral process for all parties; and monitoring all other aspects of the LSMSA’s EEO/AA policies and procedures and Title IX compliance.
The Coordinator also serves as the Homeless Liaison for LSMSA under the provisions of the McKinney-Vento Act
Essential Functions
  • Developing a committee system to assist in meeting Title IX, and EEO/AA obligations 
  • Be aware of new needs that may dictate changes or revisions in existing policies or practices for employees and students. 
  • Assisting faculty, staff, counselors, and administrators in complying with Title IX and/or EEO/AA issues, and when a need arises, planning remedial actions, including, but not limited to workshops, and student/faculty/staff tutorial services 
  • Making your presence known on the LSMSA campus by disseminating civil rights information or by speaking at parent-teacher group meetings, social or professional organization meetings, and other LSMSA community functions. 
  • Serving as a resource to the School’s administration on Title IX, EEO/AA issues and submitting annual reports on compliance activities when requested, including the Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC), required annually by the U.S. Department of Education 
  • Monitoring and evaluating the School’s EEO/AA and Title IX compliance efforts and making recommendations for any appropriate changes. 
  • Identifying and disseminating information about Title IX educational resources (organizations, individuals, print, internet, and audio-visual) to the LSMSA community
