LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Custodian Supervisor A.
Starting rate is $14.03 an hour with an additional $1 Longevity Pay and $1 Shift Differential Pay for hours worked only. Rate may be adjusted based on applicants’ qualifications.
Hours of Operation is Monday – Friday 9:00 pm – 5:30 am.
Duties and responsibilities include but not limited too:
- Supervise floor/wall care and maintenance
- Conduct inspections of work areas
- Supervise equipment maintenance
- Personnel matters: payroll timesheets, leave requests, counsel employees
- Supervise the cleaning of campus buildings when necessary
- Work orders
- Special events
- Maintain supplies inventory

FUNCTION OF WORK:To supervise a custodial work unit in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc.
LEVEL OF WORK:Supervisor.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:General from a Custodian Supervisor B or Custodian Manager. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Direct over lower-level Custodians. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
LOCATION OF WORK:All state agencies.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Custodian 3 by the presence of direct supervisory responsibility.
Differs from Custodian Supervisor B by the absence of supervisory responsibility for multiple custodial work units.EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
Direct supervisory responsibility includes daily supervision of subordinate activities, as well as approving leave and formally evaluating performance.
Supervises and inspects custodial work performed by subordinates. Ensures subordinates follow safety protocols, such as using caution signs, wearing protective gear, etc.
Schedules work and assigns daily cleaning duties to subordinates.
Issues cleaning supplies and equipment to subordinates. Orders supplies as needed and ensures equipment is properly maintained.
Provides orientation and training to new employees; provides in-service continuing education as needed.
Keeps and maintains time, attendance, supply, and equipment usage records. Prepares work reports for management review.
Inventories supplies and equipment on a periodic basis.
Oversees usage and safekeeping of keys.
Reports building or equipment repairs as needed to maintenance department.
Drives agency vehicles to transport custodial workers, as well as supplies and equipment, as needed.
