(There will be a 3% across the board general salary increase effective June 30th, 2024.)
The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, also known as "VR," is a Department of Labor program that helps people who have disabilities to get, keep and advance in employment. The Division is seeking an Assistant Director. This position is located in Augusta but will require Statewide travel.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Make operational and policy decisions in conjunction with the DVR Director.
  • Manage and direct the work of DVR related to State Agencies and Community Based Organizations.
  • Assumes the Director's duties during the Director's absence to provide continuity of operations.
  • Manage contracts
  • Make decisions in conjunction with Director on budgets and program management.
  • Manage and direct curriculum administration and changes for Career Exploration Workshops.
  • Manage the coordination and delivery of Pre-Employment Transition Services.
  • Supervise direct service and administrative staff
Skills or knowledge required:
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations applicable to and administered by the agency.
  • Knowledge of Bureau policies, goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of the legislative process
  • Knowledge of casework theory and management
  • Knowledge of program management and administration practices and principles
  • Knowledge of budgetary management theories and principles
  • Knowledge of grant procedures and best practices in grant writing
  • Knowledge of employment resources and practices
  • Knowledge of training needs and resources
  • Ability to plan, direct and coordinate multiple diverse programs and activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Minimum qualifications:
The manager at this level requires substantial experience and seasoning in the program areas managed or post-graduate education plus experience.
