Main Purpose of JobThe Administrator I – Voter Registration Compliance Auditor - position in the Voter Registration Division supports the Division by implementing various projects related to the voter registration and petitions in Maryland. This position ensures the Local Boards of Elections (LBE) are in compliance with federal and state election laws and regulations. The position is responsible for conducting and managing investigations to obtain evidence of potential malfeasance in voting; providing the Director with sufficient information to determine whether to refer voters to the Office of the State Prosecutor; and gathering information on other related election cases. The position reviews and responds to information requests for voter registration information made under the Maryland Public Information Act (PIA).
POSITION DUTIES
  • Implement and maintain voter registration program and database to ensure compliance with state and federal voter registration laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Provide support to local boards of elections for voter registration and MDVOTERS matters. Develop and maintain systems to provide for reporting of problems by LBEs to SBE regarding voter registration matters.
  • Support training program for LBEs on voter registration matters.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology Department to assist in management and testing of voter registration technology.
  • Review and respond to information requests for voter registration information made under the Maryland Public Information Act and Election Law.
  • THIS POSITION WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK EXTENDED HOURS DURING THE ELECTION PERIOD.*
Minimum Qualifications Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience : Four years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes
  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
Desired Or Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
  • Experience administering an election, preferably in Maryland.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Experience responding to inquiries and concerns of the public.
  • Experience working with a database.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONSEmployees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
