The Training Administrator position is a specialized position that requires deciding, determining, and recommending the interpretation, implementation, and applications of agency policies, directives, and procedures as they relate to training mandates and requirements, in accordance with the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC), COMAR, and Departmental policies and procedures.
This position is eligible to work a hybrid telework schedule.POSITION DUTIESResponsibilitiesThe incumbent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily training operations for staff. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Working closely with the Deputy Secretary of Residential Operations and Deputy Secretary of Community Operations in order to ensure any changes or improvements made to standard operation procedures are incorporated into training.
  • Monitoring compliance with MPCTC, COMAR, and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Having expert knowledge of all laws and policies related to training and instruction.
  • Planning, organizing, and supervising the work of in-service training participants and adjunct instructors.
  • Implementing the yearly training schedule.
  • Evaluating the efficiency of training.
  • Determining revisions to policies and training curriculum.
  • Ensuring in-service training participants are compliant with annual in-service training requirements.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes
  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
Selective QualificationsApplicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications. Candidates must possess a current Instructor Certification from the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC).Desired Or Preferred QualificationsThe preferred candidate for this position may possess any of the following qualifications:
  • Experience using the Blue Peak databases.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience.

Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
