The Results Management team at Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) is dedicated to results-oriented efforts that help state and local partners make informed policy decisions to improve outcomes for people in Minnesota. Through a variety of approaches and methods, we focus efforts across state government on results, foster collaboration, and ignite action to improve outcomes for people in Minnesota. Within the Results team, our strategy and performance management effort has core work themes of: guiding strategic direction, evaluating results, harvesting insights from data and research, and connecting efforts across agencies.

As a Results Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to assist state leaders, policymakers, and other program administrators in making decisions that produce better outcomes for Minnesotans by 1) managing a portfolio of strategic goals using data and strategy and 2) initiating and facilitating coordination across agencies, levels of government, and sectors to carry out the identified improvements. To advance these goals, this position regularly brings together administrative data, policy analysis, and strategy using complex facilitation methods and elements of project management. This position will have to opportunity to learn from and draw connections to other Results Team efforts such as the MN StoryCollective, Evidence in Practice, and Impact Evaluation.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • At least four (4) years of professional level experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional level experience.
  • A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for eighteen (18) months of professional level experience. 

Examples of related degrees: economics, political science, public policy, public administration, business, planning, mathematics, statistics, social or physical sciences.

Professional level experience must include:

  • Experience using performance management, measurement, and reporting approaches/methods to impact program performance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills sufficient to lead projects with internal and external stakeholders, present ideas with varying techniques, and effectively apply judgement and discretion with sensitive issues
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis sufficient to manipulate and visualize complex, program-related data in meaningful ways that inform and improve program operations
  • Human relations sufficient to tactfully give positive as well as problem-centered feedback to clients and other governmental officials that maintain effective working relationships, foster collaboration, and build consensus
  • Project management skills sufficient to communicate, organize, and manage multiple complex projects that adapt to emerging opportunities
  • Experience initiating, leading, and completing projects independently
Preferred Qualifications
  • Problem solving skills sufficient to identify issues as they arise, propose new and innovative solutions, advise others, and evaluate implementation of solutions
  • Governmental budgeting and legislative processes sufficient to review, analyze and suggest changes to proposed public programs and budgetary proposals
  • Firsthand knowledge of or extensive experience with indigenous cultures and/or communities experiencing inequities
  • Lived experience participating in social programs, the criminal justice system, or other state-funded programs

Experience with:

  • Building partnerships across organizations, levels of staff, and with external stakeholders to foster collaboration and build consensus
  • Creating data visualizations using software such as R or Tableau
  • Group facilitation methods to convene large groups and foster collaboration in culturally appropriate ways
  • Tailoring approaches to effectively communicate and engage with colleagues and customers of different backgrounds
  • Minnesota state government, public program policies and operations, or grant administration
