About the Agency: The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services has a position available within the County Field Offices providing support to the Field Office Supervisory Staff. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at-risk children and families. MDCPS offers a variety of positions statewide, including social work positions providing case management services and working with potential foster families, supervisor positions providing clinical and administrative support, and agency support positions such as policy development, human resources, information technology, program management, training, and budgeting/finance. About the Position: This is a time limited position. This is paraprofessional work in supervising children, assisting social workers in county offices providing social services to protective service cases, meeting child and family needs in substitute care cases, and maintaining the reunified family in post-placement cases. Employees' duties include the care, guidance, and control of children and the participation in work and recreational activities for shelter programs. Supervision is received from an administrative superior. Duties: Provides transportation for children, including relocation and placement in foster homes, physician visits, and supervised parental visits. Keeps updated list of children in custody and where they are placed, teaches homemaking/parental skills and daily living tasks to families, learns to screen for risk factors and barriers, answers telephone calls, performs related or similar duties as required or assigned

Personal resilience and strong self-efficacy beliefs about the ability to work with clients to produce positive client outcomes. Efficient organizational and time management skills. Positive work morale. Ability to be flexible in thinking and problem solving. Realistic expectations about the difficulty and challenges of the work. Ability to handle an often-unpredictable work environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a High School Diploma or high school equivalency and 0-2 years of experience. Agency qualifications:Valid Mississippi Drivers License and Valid Insurance.
