About the Agency: The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). Services also include support through Assistive Technology, the Office of Business Development and much more. It is the mission of MDRS to provide appropriate and comprehensive services in a timely and effective manner. Programs and services assist individuals with disabilities to gain employment, retain employment, and to live independently. About the Position: This position is with the Office of Special Disabilities Programs (OSDP) and functions as a District Manager . The District Manager manages, trains, and supervises each case manager in the assigned district, as well as the District Manager Assistant and (if applicable) the Deputy District Manager. Ensures all staff has access to & proper knowledge of all training material. The candidate should possess strong multi-tasking abilities, with demonstrated experience in project management and coordinating multiple staff or resources and timelines in completing a project on schedule and to standard.
What you'll need to be Successful: Looking for individuals who can multi-task, are very detailed oriented, analytical, and able to solve problems. A thorough knowledge of an OSDP district's operations and the OSDP policies and procedures which are related to the functional areas of casework are required. Good oral and written communications skills, and proficient computer skills are a must. Must be able to communicate relevant information on a timely basis with accuracy and completeness. Is a problem solver who works to find solutions to unexpected problems that arise using the resources available. Ability to effectively hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff. Skills in compilation and interpretation of data. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage federal and state budgets.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience. Hiring Agency Prefers: A Master's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field, plus seven (7) years in the special experience defined below, five (5) years of which must have included line or functional administrative or advanced technical supervision; OR a Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university; and five (5) years in the special experience defined below, OR, an accredited four-year college or university, plus seven (7) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing home and community-based services to individuals who are at risk of nursing home placement, preferably within the Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP).
