Job Description:
DESCRIPTION: Do you have a passion for the outdoors? Enjoy working hard and learning new skills? Join the team at Pawnee State Recreation Area to help create a welcoming landscape for visitors to enjoy. As a Maintenance Technician you will play a vital role in assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the buildings, facilities, and infrastructure of the Salt Valley State Recreation Areas (Bluestem SRA, Conestoga SRA, Olive Creek SRA, Pawnee SRA, Stagecoach SRA, and Wagon Train SRA). Nebraska's amazing wildlife, natural beauty, and outdoor recreation is waiting for you!
JOB DUTIES:
•Perform essential grounds, equipment, and facility maintenance.
•Mowing, watering, fertilizing, pruning, tree planting and removal, snow removal, road grading, noxious weed and insect control.
•Operate and maintain all machinery, equipment, and tools used in the performance of duties.
•Schedule, assign and coordinate the work assignments of grounds workers and special detail workers.
•Perform construction of new buildings and facilities.
•Assist with visitor services (i.e. permit sales, fee collection, and other programming).

Requirements / Qualfiications:
Minimum Qualifications: No specific education, training, or experience is required for entry to this class
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in lawn mowing, turf maintenance, hedge trimming, snow shoveling, gardening, farming, horticulture, landscaping, or grounds keeping. Must be at least 18 years of age and have driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of the operation of various types of equipment associated with grounds maintenance.
• Ability to operate and maintain equipment, hand tools, and powered tools essential for maintenance and repair work including chain saws, weed whips, mowers, tractors and trucks.
• Perform heavy physical labor and to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Communicate effectively with staff.
